Come with me to She Spits...
Imagine real world content about what we go through everyday as women being spit by a group of talented women. It's smooth, yet strong and sexy like a Cosmopolitian. The urban version of "Vagina Monologues" but ever so unique. "She Spits" is written and produced by actress J'Zhanel Cole, Co produced by Anneka LaRobin. Whether or not you've personally experienced these stories of love, respect, need, or lust you will relate and enjoy these riveting performances!
Queen Pink is J'Zhanel Cole herself spitting a gritty tale of women and solidarity. Doing what you need to do to get by. Queens by your own definition.
Mother Nature is spoken by Courtney Nicole. Mother Nature is a reminder that we are all conceived by her and she introduces each emotion.
The ladies of She Spits perform in brassieres in different colors to represent their story.
Queen Purple spit by Pacey Walker tells an enduring tale of respecting and honoring our Kings. Loving the men in all flavors of chocolate!!! My favorite quote of this monologue "All of our black men aren't in jail."
We are linked to sexy, smart, and successful black men and all of our Kings come in a different package.
.
Queen Yellow, spit by LaToya Morgan, is an emotional monologue about a women's trials with not knowing her father. The emotion evoked behind this Queen is enormorous and compelling.
Queen Green, spit by Anneka LaRobin, is of the streets! She is a gully, beautiful representative of ghetto life. She spits about her home, a place that to many may seem like a hell, but to her it's a creative breeding ground and no where else will do.
Valaira Sa-Ra better known here as Queen Red is a sexy siren. She is also a jezebel who will let a man trick and spend like no tomorrow. Although this seems like the perfect set-up, the jewels, and free lifestyle come with a valuable lesson.
I had an opportunity to talk to Actress/Model/Writer/Producer Extraordinare about the inspiration behind her production.
FR: What does S.H.E. Spits mean to you?
J'Zhanel: S.H.E. spits to me means my life, my story, my truth. It means absolutely everything to me.
FR: How do you feel that it is empowering to women?
J'Zhanel: It's empowering to women because it allows them to take the layers off. Their stories, secrets and discussions, that to others are taboo, we don't really discuss in pubic. It [S.H.E. spits] allows them to see each and every women display the characters in their own version of truth hopefully to give people the motivation they need to say this is my past this is my story and it's okay.
FR: What should we expect from S.H.E. spits in the future
J'Zhanel: Alot! We will be having a second installment of S.H.E. spits. We will debut He Speaks, a male version! Also, a third installment is our little Kings and Queens, They Spoke. So, you guys are definitely in for a bunch of different treats. We will hopefully be on the movie screen, touring, and you'll see me and the rest of the cast really soaring and taking on new heights! We will conquer the world of theater, if you will!!!!
FR: Thank you J'Zhanel!
